Battery Safety
Lithium-ion batteries store a large amount of energy. Follow these rules to avoid fires, injuries or damage:
- Charging: Charge the battery only with the original charger. Do not leave it charging unattended (especially overnight or when you are not at home).
- Charging location: Never charge the battery on flammable surfaces (for example carpets, wooden furniture, beds). Place it on a hard, non-flammable surface.
- Temperatures: Do not expose the battery to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight or freezing conditions. Do not charge it immediately after intensive riding if it is overheated – allow it to cool down first.
- Long-term storage: If you are not going to use the bike for an extended period, store the battery in a dry, cool place. The battery should not be stored either fully charged or fully discharged. Check the manufacturer's manual for the recommended charge level for long-term storage.
- Swelling, odour or overheating: If you notice that the battery has swollen, is emitting a strange odour or has critically overheated, disconnect the power immediately. Move it outdoors, away from flammable objects.
- In case of fire: Water does NOT extinguish a lithium fire. Use only a fire extinguisher suitable for electrical fires and lithium batteries (Class D or those specifically designed for lithium-ion), or evacuate the premises immediately and call the fire brigade.
- Disassembly: Opening, modifying or disassembling the battery is strictly prohibited.
- Transporting a damaged battery: A damaged, swollen or leaking battery must NOT be transported. Contact a specialist for its safe disposal.
